1. Point to Point Drill
This play begins with players on the face off marks. You begin with the forehand pass to the players stick. You need a soft touch so cup the puck and pass the puck without hitting it. You’ll have better control. Skate towards the receiver then half way turn back and while facing the puck get ready to receive the pass. Accuracy and speed are both very important in this drill.
2. Shooting Center Circle Drill
Have 1st player skate near dot and receive the pass at the blue line then shoot from the top of the circle. Have 2nd player skate around the top of the center circle and receive the pass at the blue line then shoot form the top circle. Have 3rd play skate around the bottom of the center circle and receive the pass at the blue line then shoot form the top circle. 1st and 2nd players stay to screen goalie and tip in any shots.
3. Attack Out of the Corners Drill
This 2 on 1 drill will help you with your defense and attack on the net. Start with 3 lines at center ice. Have the puck dumped into the corner. The closest winger should dig into the corner going after the puck while the other winger should curve into position in front of the net. And of course the defensemen should defend the goalie.
4. Passing Drill
1st player with stick on ice skates around the circle. 2nd player passes to 1st player at the top of the circle who then handles the puck and shoots to goalie. 2nd player back checks 1st player who picks up the puck behind the net. 2nd player gets back in line and 3rd and 4th players restart the drill when 1st player shoots.
5. Agility Back Forward Drill
1st player skates backwards around the pylon and forward towards the net. 2nd player passed to 1st player who skates in and shoots on goalie white 2nd player skates backwards towards the pylon. 1st player skates to the other corner from where he started and 2nd player receives the pass.
6. Attack Weave Drill
There will be three lines of players and you’ll do the basic weave which consists of pass and follow your pass. The player that receives the pass cuts across the middle then returning back to your line at full speed.
7. Figure 8 Skating Drill
Just as it sounds you’ll practice your figure 8. Remove the cones from the back face off dots and use only the front skating around the goal as tight as possible.
