Atlantic District Ice Hockey Player Picks
Hockey’s an exciting game and we all tend to have not only our favorite team but or favorite players. The Atlantic District Ice Hockey association has named some of their favorite player picks. See if you agree with their choices.
Dave Borelli took the Atlantic hockey player of the week with 4 goals and an assist for the Lakers. He scored the first and last goals of the game on Friday and the last two goals of Saturday’s game as well. He’s head in the team with 22 goals and 40 points ties him for 2nd in points standings.
The Atlantic goal tender of the week is Tyler Small who stopped 84 out of 88 shots improving his conference mark to 8-3.
The rookie of the week is Dan Giffin with his 39 saves and a win on 4 of his last 5 starts. His save percentage is running .950 in his last 6 starts and he’s won 4 out of his last 5 starts.
There’s a group of players that also deserve special mention! Ryan Robin registered 4 points with 2 goals and 2 assists with a 7-5 win over Connecticut.
Jereme Tendler also registered 2 goals with 1 assist and Fred Coccimiglio got the game win the second in his career. Cole Koidahl nailed 4 goals and 2 assists which certainly helped the Huskies get their first 2006 victory. Bobby Philips had 2 assists and grabbed his first point since late 2005 and his first multiple point game for his career.
Jereme Tendler is leading the Yellow Jackets with a total of 22 points - 10 assists and 12 goals. That’s 2 more already this season then Ron Miller who was last years leading scorer finished with for the season.
The Black Knights took on the Royal Military College of Canada in Kingston Ontario and managed to hang onto their winning streak. They’ve been unbeaten by RMC in the last 4 games. It was during this last game that Bryce Hollweg got his 2nd career goal against the Royal Military College of Canada. Nice!
Bentley is 0-6-3 after the last 9 games. They played a 3-3 tie with AIC during the middle of the week. Mercyhurst has scored 5 goals in each of the 4 games against Bentley while Ryan Mayhew set a record with his 30 goals at the Division I. Only one other student in school history has ever made this accomplishment.
Josh Thompson has played 120 career games and so has Markarian. They are both 4 games short of breaking the school record of 125. Brendan McCartin and Ryan Lessnau set the 100 game record and Anthony Canzoneri has 23 points under his belt this season.
The Griffs have won 4 of their past 5 games with 7 road wins this season. The Blue and Gold finally defeated the Crusaders and their senior defenseman Tim Songin had 3 assists over the weekend. Giffin stopped 39 shots in their Saturday game and he’s proving to be a force to reckon with.
There are so many excellent college hockey players it’s really quite difficult to decide who’s really the best. The stats change on a regular basis and the Atlantic District Ice Hockey association regularly names their favorite player picks. Do you agree? Who would you make your top picks?
